A Little bit about me.
As a designer, I’ve come to learn passions are progressions, which take time and commitment to cultivate.
It is this notion of art as a process that has motivated me to further pursue my passion of design as a living.
I began my design career by developing a freelance company with a peer of mine, titled 4.5 DESIGN. We continued this business fruitfully for two years, working for clients across the country. This global exposure introduced us to the professionalism that encompasses graphic design and the marketing strategy behind owning a business. Working with large corporations, printing companies and unrecognized start ups gave us the chance to work within client needs without sacrificing our creative freedom.
For the past 8 years, I’ve worked as the Assistant Vice President and Senior Graphic designer at State Street Corporation. Here, I’ve been bred to adapt to tight deadlines, juggle multiple projects, excel at conceptual prowess and culture my leadership skills through mentoring.
Working for a large financial business was never an opportunity I felt fit my mold. Yet, after viewing the works of the
Creative Group, I was impressed by the amount of creativity harnessed by the team. I have had the privilege of designing three TED@State Street events, rebranding the State Street identity, designing countless thought leadership reports and brochures, and developing a myriad of environmental graphics (including booths, quickscreens, way finding, wall/floor vinyl, and ceiling rings) for tradeshows and events launched by Global Marketing. I have been responsible for developing strategy-driven communications, promotional campaigns and creative assets that support/enhance the brand across all channels globally. I work intimately with our Executive Creative Director, Design Director, Brand Program Manager, content teams and web developers to translate our brand into engaging, high-quality deliverables. My role has offered on-press experience with local vendors and the responsibility of overseeing global brand consistency between freelancers and international printing companies. Working with people throughout the world offers a rare piece of culture to my everyday routine.
I had previously enrolled in Boston University to pursue my MFA but due to scheduling conflicts, found my way to Savannah College of Art and Design. It was here that I discovered the power of resilient research and its ability to unearth previously unseen connections and creative interactions. SCAD showed me how through research my designs could truly come to life.
As a designer, I believe it is my duty to restore what design means in today’s progressive culture. Designs must be fluid for the range of audiences it speaks to; it needs to be informative, efficient, flexible and mimic the pace of our evolving economy. Designer are inventors, entrepreneurs and most importantly leaders. We influence the minds of many without discrimination. We have the power and the privilege of connecting and communicating to people all over the world through the field we are passionate about.
